TIS wins Manufacturer of the Year

John Bragg and Tony O'Pray receive award for Manufacturer of the year

TIS Cumbria Limited (TIS) West Cumbria’s fabrication, welding and NDT specialist was honoured at the CN Business Awards last night, winning Manufacturing Business of the Year Award. They shared the stage with Oxley Developments from Barrow.

TIS has gone from strength to strength over recent years, winning major work contracts, developing their apprentices, training schemes and taking on a major £3milion build project. Their new factory and work space is currently under development and due to complete before Christmas. It will enable the company grow from 60 staff today to add an additional 70 positions.

The Judges were impressed with their real growth in engineering and drive to keep the business moving forward.

Tony O’Pray and John Bragg, joint Managing Directors said “We are delighted to have won this award, sharing the honours with such a respected business like Oxley Developments who have contracts with the Ministry of Defence. It is very rewarding to see that innovation and determination are demonstrated in all the shortlisted companies for this Manufacturing Award, which is good for Cumbria and demonstrates we have a developing manufacturing base in the county.

We have always been dedicated to manufacturing in West Cumbria. Much of what we have achieved is down to our commitment to training. Without it, we would not have the skilled workforce we have today, and without our staff and apprentices, what we have achieved may not have been possible at all.”
